AREA SURROUNDING Casa de Mariquita
Santiago de la Ribera is a beautiful spot on the coast of Mar Menor and was originally a fishing village. In modern times it has become a popular vacation destination - not only for Spaniards but especially for tourists from all over Europe. Santiago de la Ribera feels modern while retaining the atmosphere of a cozy fishing village. There is a beautiful 4 km-long promenade lined with majestic palm trees running the length of a beautiful sandy beach. We also recommend visiting the weekly market in Santiago on Wednesdays (only 500 m from Casa de Mariquita). Larger shops can be found in the nearby town of San Javier. You can also take a boat trip (40 min. ferry ride) to the La Manga strip, which is located on the other side of the inland sea.
